The purpose of all posts here is to enable future generations to link up or network if they happen to feel the desire to do so.

It may so happen that some of them may live in the same locality and may not know each other or even if they happen to meet may not know somewhere backwards, upstream they had a tributary ot a river to share with.

My Wife's Origins & their relations

My wife is the only child of Amarendra Nath Chakraborty and Maya Chakravorty. Amarendra Nath, the third and the youngest of his parents' children, lost his parents early at childhood, grew up to graduate from Schotish Church College with the affction of his elder brother and some of his teachers including the Pricipal of Scottish Curch College who took a liking for the amiable, honest and hard-working student showing profieciency in Mathematics, and cleared the examinations to enter the Accounts & Audit Service of the Government of India.
His nephews include: Dr. Bidhan Chakravorty(Manju), a famous Gynacologist in Kolkata, has a son, Dr. Biman Chakravorty (Bablu), married to Ruma (Tapu's mother's sister's daughter) and has two daughters - they live in the UK, and Bijon Chakravorty (Ranju), an engineer, married to Dr. Rita Chakravorty has a son Kushal: they live in LA, USA. Among other newphews and nieces are Dr. Ranes Chakravorty, a renowned cancer specialist physician who lives in the US,and his younger sister, Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak (best known for the article "Can the Subaltern Speak?", considered a founding text of postcolonialism, and for her translation of Jacques Derrida's Of Grammatology) who teaches at Columbia University as University Professor.

My mother-in law, Maya, is the youngest child of Chakravarti, a direct disciple of Sri Maa Sarada, wife of Sri Ramakrishna and was close to some of the founders of the Ramakrishna Mission: he was an MA in English God Medalist and served as Secretary of Government Medical college. Maya's nephews and nieces include: Ruma ( married to Dr. Bidhan Chakravorty, referrred to above) Jayanti (her daughter lives in the UK Bhaskar (Hitu, an engineer married to and has daughters : he lives in Toronto, Canada), Soumya (married to Nandini and has a son Joy: they live in Queens, NY, USA), Jaya (Naughty, married to Atri Ghosh, has a son, Laddu: they live in NJ, USA), Tutu (married to , has a daughter and a son, Bichhu, who is bannker, Babul (married to and has a son who is a jounalist in Kolkata), Dr. Kalyan Chakraborty(Bapi), a retired IAS and a renowened Scholar in archielogy and related fields, married to Jhunu and has a daughter), and Dipankar (Buro, a Chartered Accountant who works for the Tatas in Jamshedpur, married to Basantika and has two daughters - one, .., lives in the US and the other, .., in New Zealand).

My Father's Siblings

My father had two younger step sisters. The elder, my Baro Pishima,had two sons and three daughters - the youngest one died at childhood. The eldest was Khukhi -di, was was a nurse and has three daughters. The next was Nilu -da who used to work for the Indian Cable company in Jamshedpur, the same company for whom his father used to work. Nilu- da has a son and a daughter - both married and have children. The next was Bhulu- da (Ajoy Dasgupta) who was a Labour Welfare officer and later shifted to Kolkata and worked for the Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation. He has a daughter and a son. The yougest was Lakshmi -di, Amar Dasgupta: their only daughter is Pao..
My faather youngest sister, my Choto Pishima,who lost her husband at an early age, had a daughetr, Kkuku -di with two daughters - Swagata Dasgupta (Tultuli) and Bubun. Khuku -di's son is Khokan who lives in Durgapur.

I post all these in expectation that in future descendents may find this link and update and re-establish network among their relatives known or unknown. They may make the information more accurate, current and comprehensive. I do not remember many names now.

My Mother's Siblings

My mother's brother, my Mama, had three sons and two daughters.
The eldest son Nona-da (Brhamajit Gupta Sharma), is a graduate engineer from Jadabpur University and served Government of India for long. His borther Ashok-da (Dharmajit), is a Master of Science in Radio Physics and was a Scientist with the Government of India. Both had very distinguished careers. Their youger borther Biswajit was an engineer. Their two sisters: Arati-di, a Librarian in a women's college and Alpana-di.
Nonada's son is an engineer, worked in the US and currently working in India for a few years. His children were born in the US.
Ashokda's sons are both scientists with Phds: one is in India and the other in the US.

My mother's eldest sister, Kamala, my Baro Mashima, had three sons anbd two daughters. Keshu-da was the senior most, followed by Pratima-di, then Saktida, Khokada and Nilima-di. Keshuda was a senior manager with a Chemical company: his son (Kanchan) and daughter (Mili) are married. Sakti-da (Samaredra Mohan Roy) was a senoir marketing official of Steel Authority of India: he has two sons and a daughter - all are married. Khokada (Amarendra Mohan Roy) was the Chief of Goodyear Tyres in India: he was a very jovial person and a real salesman. He was a great devotee of Satya Sai baba of Puttaparthi. After Khokada's sudden demise, Boudi joined the Satya Sai Bab education/ social trust organisation at Whilefield, Bangalore.

My mother's younger sister, Sankari- Mahima, has five sons and a daughter. The brother are Prashana (Dulal-da) wo was an Income Tx Officer and has a son who is married, (Babli) a Senior Acounts and Finance official of Airport Authority of India has two daughters, Sushanta (Vandul), a banker, has a son, Achinta (Muruli), an entrepreneur in the business of project construction has a son and a daughter, and Tulu , a lovable borther who did not marry. Their sister, Jolly, married an insurance professional.

My Grand father's brothers and cousins

My grand father had two younger brothers and two very close cousins.
His next brother, whom we called Bareer Dadu (he used to be always at home and kind of a controller of the joint family) had three sons and four daughters. The three sons were: Ramkrishna,Ramprasad and RamMohan. None of them are alive now. All of them children who are mnarried now. They had four sisters. Of them I had seen three: Monta Pishi, Monu Pishi and Putul Pishi. All were married and had children.
My grand father's youngest brother whom we called ChorDadu, had two sons , Narayan and Mukul and a daughter Jharna. Narayan Kaku is no more and he has two daugthers and two son - all married and with children. Mukulkaku has a son and a daughter- both married.
My grandfather's cousin Atlu Chandra Sen had only one son, Dulal. Dulal Kaku has two sons, Betal and - both married.

Family Tree & My Siblings

My Grand Father, Jatindranath SenSarma had two younger brothers.(1)
My father Manindra Nath Sen was his only son; he had two daughters , Baro Khuki (married to Dasgupta)(2) and Choto Khuki who became a widow at an early age (3).
My mother Lilabati was the third daughter of Jadubar Gupta Sharma: her elder brother Jagadish Chandra Gupta Sharma, a Judge and a poet (4), the other siblings, my aunts being Kamala (married to Dr. Roy)(5) and Sankari (married to Mr. Dasgupta) (6)

My parents had nine children: Guori (my Didi)(7), Khuku (Mejdi, died young), Tarun Kumar (Dada)(8), Kishore Kumar (Mejda)(9), Jhunu (Chordi) (10), Chanchal(Sejda, died young), Unnamed (died before naming ceremony),
Basudeb and Sukdev (11).

11. Sukdeb, my youngest brother is a graduate enginerer from Jadavpur University in Kolkata, India. He also obtained an MS in Engineering from the same university. He worked for various Indian companies, married a Polish citizen, Renata. They have a son Guddu Samuel who is an MS in Engineering and Sabina Sweta a Master of Arts and the leader of a dance group named Taal in Poland (see website for details). Suku and his family have become Polish citizens since the late 1990s and now live in Poland. Sukdev works for an American multinational in Poland and supervises projects accross different European countries.

10. Jhunu, Chordi, my elder sister has three children, Kanchan, Rupa and Sonua. Eldest brother Kanchan has a son. Niece Rupa also has a son. Sonua is single and lives in Purulia.

9. Kishoe Kumar (the only brother among four of us, using the original second part of the family name, Sarma after Sen) is M.com, LLB, AICWA and AICSI has served various companies and was the Chief of Finance in a large business house. Married to Ujjaini, Mejda has three children: Two nieces are Rai, married to Partho has a daughter and Tui ( Runa) married to another Partha, also has a daughter. Their brother, my nephew Rudra Sensarma, is a MA in Economics, a MS in Quatitative Economics and a Phd in Economics has worked in the Reserve Bank of India, taught at Indian Institute of Management Lucknow and Uinversity of Birmigham. Now Rudra is a professor at Hertfordshire University Management School. Rudra, born two weeks after Kapildeb (Chupa), my younger son, is married to Padmini, a banker ib London.

8. Tarun Kumar, my eldest brother, is an enhgineer from Jadavpur University and has worked for several engineering firms including Tata Electical Locomotives, Britania Engineering, Guest Keen Willians, Burn Standard and Jessops as the Chief of Production. Even at the age of 77, he still advises a large engineering firm on a daily basis. Married to Sunanda, Dada has a son, Joy, a graduate with long specilises experience in investor servicing function. Married to Tinku, a graduate school teacher as also a Radio newsreader, Joy has a son Soham (my friend on Facebook). Dada's daughter Munni Swati is a graduate with History honours and teacher in a school, is married Lal Roychowdhury, a Leather Technologist and has a daughter, Shreemoyee (Sonai)

7. Gouri, Didi, my eldest sister is now an octogenerian, was a school teacher before she married Parimal Sen, a meterologist with the Government of India and has a daughter, Bachhu (Roma)who is married to Joydeb Majumder, a banker. Both did post graduate specialisation in social studies and Bacchu works and teaches at for a sociology research organization where Joydeb also manages sociology projects: their only child, a daughter, Ratnalekha (Lalku) is a Master of Arts and is a budding journalist.
Bachhu's one year younger brother Babu (Gautam) is a commerce graduate who worked for Pharmaceutical companies before becoming a teacher: he married married Seema, a music teacher: they are blessed with a handsome young son, Mohul (Tibu).

Graduating from 25 years of Mom's care and influence, Basudeb joined, in 1973, the Never-ending Apprentice Fellowship Program under the regime of

Basudeb Sen,
a Professional Mangement Executive and Business Economist for 32 years since 1970 in Commercial Banking, Coal Mining, Development Banking, Investment Management and Investment Banking Companies,

Born in Calcutta, the city now called Kolkata,an M.A. Economics (University of Calcutta) and Ph.D. (Indian Statistical Institute), comprehensively enjoyed executive life of first 11 years in Kolkata (United Bank of India and Coal India), next 18 years in Mumbai (Industrial Development Bank of India and Unit Trust of India),and finally 2 years in Kolkata as Chairman & Managing Director of Industrial Investment Bank of India. In 2002, six years ahead of normal Indian retirement time,ventured to taste a different and non-executive life. Now enjoying his hard-won freedom in Calcutta,

Pursuing interest in areas like internet, economics/economists, globalisation, Uncertainty & Risk, Finalcial markets, Stochastic Destiny Principle, Individual liberty and freedom, love and the lively association as Independent Non-exccutive Director with companies (ITC Ltd,Mahanagar Gas Ltd, South Asian Petrochem Ltd, Gujarat NRE Coke Ltd, SREI Venture Capital Ltd, Sumedha Fiscal Ltd and Ispat Industries Ltd)and also as Director of Calcutta Business School.
